I’ve just completed an intensive 20-hour Colour Analysis Mastery training in Madrid, taught personally by Karen Brunger, founder of the International Image Institute and one of the leading figures in professional colour analysis.
With more than four decades of experience, Karen has developed an incredibly detailed approach to understanding colour harmony — looking beyond simply “warm or cool” and training the eye to recognise the relationship between undertone, value and intensity, as well as those more complex cases that don’t always fit neatly into the obvious seasonal answer.
Day one began with theory, going deeper into the principles behind advanced colour analysis. Then it was my turn to be analysed by Karen herself.
Being on the other side of the drapes was fascinating. Even as a colour analyst, experiencing the process as the client is such an important reminder of what we are actually observing: how each colour affects the skin, eyes, facial definition and overall harmony.
After that, we moved straight into hands-on practice with the other students, analysing one another and sharpening our technique through comparison, discussion and feedback.

From there, the two days became an intensive mix of analysing, questioning and refining our eye. With an international group representing more than 10 countries and a wonderfully diverse group of models, we worked through close to 30 colour analyses — including unusual palettes, challenging characteristics and some genuinely rare cases.
We even encountered several Universal results, which was such a valuable reminder of why colour analysis should never be about forcing someone into a predetermined box.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn directly from Karen and to bring this Mastery-level training back into my own practice.
I’m also very proud to be the first colour analyst in Denmark offering the International Image Institute’s 16/23/35 palette analysis, now trained at Mastery level.
More precision.
More possibilities.
And an even more individual approach to finding your wow colours. ✨
Madrid, thank you. Karen, thank you. And to the wonderful group of analysts I trained alongside — what an experience. 💚
And yes… appointments are open. 😉🌈
